So here's my story, about six months ago we got an adorable little Great Dane puppy. If you ever seen the comic strip of Marmaduke you'll understand how quickly a large breed dogs can grow. Our little Oliver was no exception. And with his bigger size and bigger appetite came bigger, shall we say, byproducts. Yes, I do mean dog poop.
It sounds kind of funny and like something out of a typical sitcom, but in just a few days time I'll find that my entire backyard is one giant minefield. Being a larger dog Oliver loves to run. Our backyard is nearly 1/2 acre in size and fenced in with a nice wooden stockade fence. Although all of her sleeps inside and usually stays inside during inclement weather, he has a doggie door off of the mud room and is able to come and go as he likes. And he likes to come and go a lot.
At first I tried to stay on top of cleaning up the messes as they happen. Then I tried to get more realistic and clean them up daily. But honestly, even that was too much to keep up with. I decided to make it my Saturday chore to go out and get the backyard all cleaned up. Unfortunately when you do this on a weekly schedule it becomes more and more difficult to find what you're looking for without stepping in at first. Enter my pooper scooper heroes.
I did a little research online and found that there were companies that will come out to your home and clean all of the pet waste in your yard, or whatever portions of your yard, you wish. You control the schedule and how often they come out and they take care of everything else. This is been one of the greatest services that I never knew existed. What I call the main office of DoodyCalls to set up our first appointment I soon found that I could have regularly scheduled visits and they would take care of everything for me. I wanted to try a one-time cleanup first just to make sure it was going to be worth it. And it certainly was!
Now this fantastic pooper scooper company comes to my home once a week and makes my backyard absolutely spotless. The technician is quick and efficient and doesn't miss a trick. I never realized there was such an art and skill associated with picking up doggie debris. But after seeing him work a couple times I can attest to the fact that there undoubtedly is.
If your home is surrounded by a giant puppy minefield, I can give you no better advice than to spend a few minutes searching online for keywords such as pet waste management or pooper scooper service. It still makes me chuckle a little every time I think about it, but that five-minute research and five-minute phone call ultimately gave me my weekends back, in saved at least several pair of shoes.
